Louis [style=background-color: white; opacity: .5; font: 11px Tahoma; color: black; padding: 10px; border-radius: 10px; text-align: justify; line-height: 150%]White paws touched onto the leaf litter. Years of forest created the carpet that Lou padded upon. Twigs, decaying leaves, mud all composted into a mulch that provided a path that had been drawn through the forest by the activity of deer and other larger prey animals. Lou moved slowly, but doggedly, pressing ever onward. He was a guard, supposedly, though hardly did a thing except have adventures and play.
A creature that greatly resembled a long-legged rabbit, followed after the dog. He was a Pantagonian Mara, a small specimen, but stunted in growth so that he barely weighed fifteen pounds. The creature moved at a hop and then would catch up to Lou before slowing down, moving with guarded steps. They were a quiet pair, knowing each other too well to mar their work with speech.
The sable, tan, and white dog stopped as his half-flopped ears pricked forward. The mara followed suit, his own ears rotating, catching the sound. "You hear someone?" asked Lou.
"No," replied Dash. "I just heard a twig snap." Never mind that a twig snapping could indicate someone.
The dog furrowed his brow as he thought hard. Wrinkles formed between his ears, but then he relaxed. "Let's go back."
The Mara pivoted, using a twirling hop to do so. Now he was in front. The large rodent stopped and looked back on the dog he was bound to. Dash was Lou's spirit incarnate. Lou was rather easy to sneak up to when he wasn't focused. At this moment, he wasn't. [/style]

Trotting through the Deer Jungle along the beaten path, the isabella and tan brute followed the scent of one of the guards that took resididences within Bohlale pack, same as himself. Not knowing why he was following he was just bored and needed something to do. He stopped and stuck his snout into the air and tried to scent the other brute. Moving onward the large and muscular Doberman brute placed his paw in the wrong place and a twig snapped underneath his weight.
Bear's ears rotated and his head turned. Facing his soul siiting only a few feet away. Navajo was too wise for his own good, "Someone had bound to hear you.", the bird pointed out. Navajo flew up slightly and landed on Bear's back. The brute shook his head and turned to face the brute he had been tracking. "Hello Louis" A small and odd smile appeared on Bear's muzzle, trying to seem friendly.

Louis [style=background-color: white; opacity: .5; font: 11px Tahoma; color: black; padding: 10px; border-radius: 10px; text-align: justify; line-height: 150%]"Hello, Louis," an adult Doberman had said. He seemed to want to be friendly, but Lou couldn't tell. He was just slightly annoyed that someone had thought to call him Louis. It was an icky name too him. Far too sophisticated to belong to a dog whose job was more or less a way of his sister to keep him occupied without messing with pack affairs.
That being said, the mixed breed tilted his head, eccentric ears not even deciding whether to stand up or flop over as he pricked them over. "I'm doing my work," the dog said in earnest, though his brown eyes were holding a rather dull expression. He wasn't really as stupid as he made himself out to be, but had no reason to act smarter than he was in any case. The dog smiled and wagged his tail.
The Mara next to him gave a grunt and then sat down. Compared to Lou, the large rodent—the size of a smallish medium sized dog, really—was a lot less childish, though he had the same dimwitted and content view of the world.
"But really, I'm swell," he said, his eyes averted, submissively. He was afraid that he'd be chastised for not doing a good job, which tended to be the case. He had a wonderful work ethic, but only if he thought that the work was disguised as play or had been dumbed down so much that he might as well be doing nothing. [/style]

Being the stubborn, stinker that she was, Anastasia had probably ruined her career. As betaess, you see. She had strayed away from the pack in order to explore her new territory. Since no one knew her around here, it was the thrill of the day to see the looks on all the dog's faces when she told them who she was. This was the day. You see, Anastasia is a stinker when it comes to pranks and such, she adores them and jumps right in. Although she is very competitive and sarcastic, none of this apply to her prankster attitude. At least, not yet.
Her ears twitched when she heard rustling in the tree tops above her. What the..? She growled. "Terra? Is that you?" she inquired, hoping her feathery friend would join her on her ""expedition". This was quite fun, and yet, she didn't think she would get into trouble for it either, since she was Betaess. Smirking, the Auskie's head leaning upward, trying to get a better view over her. Suddenly, a falp of wings and slash of claws, her companion, a white falcon joined her on her back. Landing softly, making sure she didn't claw Anastasia to death, Terra nodded. "Where are we off today, Ana? she asked, ruffling her silky white feathers.
Shaking her head, Anastasia replied, "I don't know. Maybe we should return back to the camp site before we get caught, and get into trouble."
|
she smirked, rolling her eyes. Terra seemed to worry a lot about nothing, which was typical she guessed. I mean, it's not everyday someone else has a falcon for there companion. Suddenly, Anastasia heard two rustling noises and voices about 10 feet away from her. Crap. Anastasia was in for it. [/sub][/blockquote][/blockquote]

The beta male nodded, ”Very well then”, saying nothing of the sort to distress Guard. It looked as if he was doing his job, guarding the territory. Which involves walking around. At this point Navajo was pecking the job, collecting bugs that only he could see. Suddenly the bird stopped and looked in a different direction. ”Someone is over there”, he said his eyes widened. ”Hello?” Bear questioned to a seemingly no one. Looking a little closer he could see the white feathers of a bird and a bluish coat of a dog creature. Hoping it was a member of his pack he waited for the unknown dog to show his or herself.

Louis smiled when he saw that he wasn't in trouble and wagged his tail. Dash, next to him, rotated his ears, turning them toward the brush where the other dog head. Common sense was something that the pair lacked, but they weren't stupid. If the last time a strange noise meant that a dog was here, Dash could only assume that another noise would mean the same thing. "Another dog," Dash said, his nose quivering, trying to sniff the air, but that was Louis's realm.
The sable, tan, and white dog raised his head and air-scented. "Pack member," he said. Tracking was one of his strong suits. He sat down, respectfully, and wagged his tail, which thumped the ground on either side of him.
The Mara trembled on his long legs. "You were wrong the last time," he protested.
"So were you," Lou reminded his soul. The rabbit-like rodent glared at the dog. Neither of them liked to be reminded of the fact that they weren't the smartest creatures in the pack and that really obvious things sometimes didn't register, but on the flip-side they tended to poke fun at each other a lot.
He looked to Bear, which made him feel a bit safer because the Beta seemed to take Lou under his wing, so to speak. At least he hadn't disciplined him for being lazy. Louis never really did the Guard duty as it was described. Mostly, it was just a way for him to do nothing but play in the forest all day.

Anastasia wasn't afraid to reveal herself. Her beautiful self. (lol) The flacon on her back went first into the brush, to see who was calling her. Terra, being her soul 'mate', was exrememly protective and was like a mother to Anastasia. But she would also have to get tangled up in her messes too. Oh yes, this canine could get real messy. Like when she told some guy she could beat him, he started to get angry. But, Anastasia did have a point. She could and would beat him. And she did too. Anyway, that just goes to prove how competitive and strong willed this girl is. The blue, tan, gray and black Auskie slowly made her way after Terra. Obviously since Terra hadn't come back or squealed, she was perfectly fine.
Once Anastasia wAs able to see who she was surrounded by, she grew more comfortable. Good. They were males. One, to her right was a strong, tan and brown Doberman. he seemed to be proud looking, so she assumed he was a high rank. The other dog however, seemed to be something like herself, wanting to explore. Alhoight he seemed to cower at the sight of the Doberman, he must be something lower. She shook her pelt, wanting them to talk first. She wasn't much of a social butterfly as her mother was. Nah, chatting wasn't her thing. Get right to the point.

Bear starred into the bushes as he could see the dog and, by the smell, her soul were slightly moving about. Navajo being the friendly little bird that he is, the hawk flew over the bush and landed on a thicker branch. Cocking his head to the side and waiting for the bird to look at him. "Hello?", the Doberman called once more. He took a slight step towards the shivering bush to get a better look at the other. Navajo starred at the white bird and waited. He bounced on the branch and then it snapped. With a flap of his wings he was on another branch, just waiting.

"Ana?" Lou called when the merle female revealed herself. He relaxed himself, but only slightly, and only because he recognized her and that he wasn't wrong. He was afraid of being chastised. He knew that he wasn't a popular member of the pack: Practically riding on the success of his sister to garner more respect than he deserved, albeit unintentionally. Though an adult, he had the mindset of a puppy. His brown eyes held a dull expression.
"I was, I was, uh, working." The Beta, great. He was alright with Bear being here, but another dog of high ranking made things slightly more edgy. Working. If they asked him outright, he'd be unable to specify what exactly he was doing. Honestly, he was exploring, playing, following interesting scents. And being a Guard for Bohlale was the furthest thing on his mind.
Dash, his soul, looked toward the two dogs with a certain nonchalance. He really was trying to make it seem like he and Lou weren't up to anything and were doing as they were supposed to, but the two of them were terrible liars.
"So... what brings you guys here?" Lou said in an attempt at small-talk.

Bear starred at the bush until the sound of the guard came out, Ana? The dog looked back to him and then quickly his glance roved back to the female that had slowly come out of the bushes. The dog was farmilar with the fea and so his tensed body relaxed. Bear sat and said "Navajo, come here" The Redtail Hawk bounced across her the ground and back to the Doberman. Hoping the Ana would come out. His paw came up and scratched behind his ear. It flicked around to try and see if there was anyone else of interest about. Navajo perched himself on Bear's head, trying to land softly as he didn't want to her the dog's head with his talons. The Doberman shook his head to try and dislodged the bird of prey.

Anastasia shook her head with frustration. Why was'nt anybody saying anything? The complete idiots. Why in the world would you leave it up to her? A lady, if that! She flattened her ears back, her face expression not pleased with this mild introduction Terra could tell that she was getting upset, and she landed with her claws carefully on her back. The white falcon ruffled her feathers and waited for Anastasia to blow up. This was exactly what she needed. To Impress the other Beta. Of course. Not. ""Well? Who are you and why are you just starring at me?" she snarled with attitude, her glare past Lou and blazed at the Doberman, who seemed to be in his own little world.
Terra rolled her eyes at Anastasia. She could understand her feeling that some were rude at introductions, but maybe he was shy? Maybe Anastasia was taking this a bit too far. Terra poked the stubborn Auskie with her talon, and the surprised canine jumped up a bit. "I'm Anastasia, as Lou said. And I came here to ex- *cough* uh, walk around."
|
she coughed in the middle because, she didn't exactly want them to know what she was really doing out here, at least, not yet. She knew that Lou, of alll dogs was not doing his job out here, but rather playing, and she could tell by the scuff marks by his paws, and the rather bothered look on his face. He seemed to be hiding something. [/sub][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Lou looked to Dash with raised eyebrows—mostly of surprise. Perhaps he was going to get off, scot-free, after all. It seemed like the dogs were ignoring him well enough, which was more than he could ever hope for. Ignoring his trangression as it was. Anastasia had focused instead of what he said and not what he did. He couldn't help but start grinning a stupid smile. He was beaming because, like a kid, he liked the fact that he got away with something.
The Mara wasn't feeling very comfortable in the situation because the two dogs had souls that were birds of prey. Although Dash was a very large rodent, he was still a rodent. And though he was a soul, he felt some strange fear because the two other souls had predatory ways of thinking, while he was a prey animal. It said as much about Lout, who could be considered a prey animal himself, just by the way he conducted himself.
He was a bit dim, and had that playful quality about him. It was rare for a dog to see his prey play, but when one finds a deer frolicking in the forest or a songbird singing her heart out, it gives a dog pause. However, playfulness was something canines were not shy about. They were masters of this island, the ones who everything else fed. Perhaps he could sneak off. Somehow, he felt strange when Ana was snarling at Bear—and it scared him a little.
Lou was stepping backward, hoping that none of the other dogs would notice him. Dash glanced at Lou, saw the dog moving. "Pssst. Want me to come with?" Dash asked in a harsh, noisy whisper.
"Uh, yeah," Lou whispered back in the same way.
One word: Conspicuous.
