The older male hadn't exactly planned on trying to escape the holds of the pack, that wasn't why he had wandered out here. He had only wanted to just quiet his thoughts down, and stop them from spinning so much. But that had only taken a few moments of his time, sitting within the depths of the brush and taking a few deep breaths, to straighten everything out before he could manage to get himself into a terrible situation. Plus, it was relaxing out here, so he wasn't in all that big a hurry to return to the Hlengiwe pack's camp. It was loud there, and there was almost always something going on, so he preferred to just get away from all of those distractions and to just think on his on, even if it was for the smallest amount of time, he still took advantage of it whenever he had the time.
Nebraska wasn't all that much of a loner, he liked the company of his pack, even if they some how managed to annoy him at times, even that was still quite rare. He loved the pups, and they could be quite annoying, he knew that very well, but they put his mind to rest, watching all of their antics, not yet aware of the world yet, and completely carefree to everything that had to do with politics and territories.
Nebraska's soul, and most reliable adviser, Richmond, or just Richie, sat, perched on a tree branch nearby. He watched Brass closely, even though he knew that Nebraska was far from being a danger to anyone at the moment. It was still his job to keep track of the dog.
The male settled himself to lay down and peered around calmly, letting his thoughts drift to and fro, not actually trying to focus on anything in specific at the moment. He would take this chance to relax with all happiness, he was lucky to have that chance, being a beta and all. He had to watch over the pack while his brother and his brother's mate, the alphaess, were away somewhere. It was quite a taxing job, at least, until the other dogs within the pack got used to the idea of him being beta and all.
"Who's there?" Brass asked, rising to his feet, his tone rather calm. Of course, he could be calm, due to the fact that he was in his pack's territory, it wasn't as if he couldn't trust anyone within this pack, he could, absolutely. His siblings were in this pack, and most of the dogs weren't all that bad, either. He could afford to be calm, it wasn't as if someone was going to end up coming after him with revenge, or something of the sort, no, he had left all of that very far in the past.

She was having a good day, it seemed all her plants where blooming and growing well. Suzy just hopped no natural disasters happened, no floods or droughts.
Susannah looked around for her soul, Whisper, who was related to the kangaroo, but much smaller. She had sent her soul out to look at her other plants. Her pack life seemed to be going good, yes her sister had a few problems, but nothing that would cause either of the siblings life to go down hill. The Saluki mixed turned around, ''Oh Whisper how our the herbs? Everyhting here is growing well''.
The look on Whispers face was neutral, and Susannah knew that look well, she was hiding something. ''Well... They are okay, nit going as well as they could be, plus about half of them have been eaten by a deer i suppose'', Suzy sighed, it was not easy keeping her pack healthy, and now the others animals where making it harder. Sighing the female moved on, she has got enough herbs for now, enough to keep her pack healthy for the next few weeks.
Picking up her plants Suzy and Whisper walked together back to back. But of course nothing today is going as planned. Susannah turned as she herd some one speak, the voice was familiar but she could not put a paw on it. ''Oh! Hello Nebraska, Richie, how are you guys today?'', Susannah was also having an off spirit day, yes many dogs where trying to get thru.

Nebraska heard the other dog talking to someone before he actually saw them. He couldn't make out any of the words very well, but it at least gave an indication of where the other dog was coming from. He didn't want to be taken by surprise when the dog suddenly appeared. It wouldn't look all that respectable if Nebraska jumped out of her fur just because the dog emerged from the brush behind him and ended up frightening him. Especially with him being a beta of the pack and all, that wouldn't make his image look all that good, especially with some of those doubters that, from his much more serious view, would much rather have him give up and let him go back to his old rank. Of course, Brass doubted himself too much, so quite a bit of it was probably still in his head, rather than right in front of him.
Nebraska smiled when a familiar face emerged from the brush. He didn't need to worry, or let his mind scramble about. It was Susannah, one of the pack's healers. The male relaxed his stance farther and listened, ears perking slightly as Susannah asked how he and Richie were. the male thought for a few moments, he hadn't considered how he felt like today, after all, he was, for the most part, just out her thinking. He didn't contemplate how he felt all that often, at least, not until someone actually asked him about how he felt, which did happen, sometimes, anyway.
"I'm doing pretty well, Susannah." Nebraska replied, letting a slight, friendly smile appear across his muzzle. "Me too." Richie tweeted from his perch up high, or, relatively high, in the tree. Nebraska glanced at the bird from the corner of his eye before turning his brown eyed gaze back to Susannah.
"And how are you, Susannah? Is everything going well?" Nebraska asked, tilting his head slightly as he finished the question, he didn't know how to ask about her job as a healer, he had barely any knowledge of healing, only just enough for if they were away from healers and he needed to treat himself, or the other dogs on his patrol. He just hoped a situation of that sort wouldn't come up to him anytime soon. He wasn't all that sure how well he would be able to handle that.
Brass seated himself on the grass, continuing to face Susannah as he waited for her response. It was nice out here in thee brush, with the birds tweeting, unless they started hunting. That would end up frightening them all away, he was sure. It was a pleasant place, though, to relax and enjoy all of the quiet that he now had. It was wonderful, and he loved it, to be able to enjoy himself for once, when for him, a busy body, peace and relaxation were always forever away. If he ever accepted the relaxation. But it was all good.

She no longer lived with her parents, and she really had no idea where they where. Life was pretty good in her pack, she could even do what she likes, helping the sick and injured. Suzy just could not believe half a garden had died, she would have to get new seeds, plant it and water them so the plants would regrow next spring.
Her day was not so planned and peppy and more, but maybe Nebraska could cheer her up. ''Well im good, but some of my herbs have died.'' Susannah sat down and fumbled with the herds she did gather. Whisper decided this was a good time to speak. ''Im good too, just upset with the herbs as well'', the small kangaroo smiled at Richie.
Susannah sighed, her soul could talk too much at times, but she knows that deep inside her self there was a dog who wanted to talk her heart out. ''So what are you up to today? Not hunting herbs im guessing?'', Susannah giggled and Whisper joined in with a smile. Suzy had no idea if her life would ever get better.

Nebraska tilted his head slightly when Susannah said that she was well, but some of her herbs had died, and then Whisper said that she was said about the herbs, as well. "That doesn't sound too god. Are there still enough herbs left?" Brass asked, he knew very well that a shortage of herbs couldn't be all that good for the pack. Especially if an illness ended up sweeping through the camp, or someone injured them self, and then they didn't have the herb to actually treat the injury, or it's affects. It could be quite disastrous, he was positive about that. That wasn't something that anyone would want happening to the pack, it would be an absolutely terrible event.
The male let another smile cross her muzzle when when she asked what he was doing out here, guessing that he wasn't out here hunting herbs like she was. Nebraska chuckled softly, shaking her head as he laughed, noting that Susannah and Whisper were laughing to. Susannah had a nice laugh he thought. The male tilted his head as he considered his thoughts before he spoke.
"I guess I'm just out here to get my thoughts straight, I guess, it's really busy and distracting in the camp." Nebraska replied, giving a slight shrug of his shoulders. The male preferred to do a majority of his thinking out in an area that was at least somewhat quiet, like this place, so he wouldn't get distracted, or, worse, get caught without his guard up and ending up doing something that was terribly stupid. That was what Richie served as, too. Nebraska's look out, and the one who made sure that he didn't do anything stupid.
"And I can guess that you're out here checking on your herbs." Brass added, his tone friendly and open. He had figured that out easily, and knew very well that he was only stating the obvious to her, but still, it was something to say, and he had said it. It was conversation, and conversation was a complex things.
In conversation you had to be careful of what you said, or the dog that you were conversing with would end up getting mad with you. And you wouldn't want that, especially when you were actually trying to be civilized, or trying to make a new friend, in another case. He was sure that Susannah wouldn't mind him stating the obvious, almost positive, but he didn't know her through and through, or even as well as his siblings, so he couldn't know anything of that sort for sure, only his best were guesses.

Susannah nodded, ''Enough in till fall, i always plant a few extras in case something where to happen like this, but im still not happy'', she truly hopped it would last till then, hopefully the new seeds would grow soon. Susannah was not only worried about that, she knew her sister would be nervous awaiting for her return. Suzy's sister had a few mental problems, which also made her look a little different then her family, she had problems speaking for years, and she is still a little iffy, plus she is blind, Susannah just hopes she will be comfortable enough one day that she will have her own healthy family.
Susannah also knows that it runs in her family, which is why she has avoided having pups her self, though she would love her own family, but it probably will never happen, Susannah is just too shy. She finally looked back at the male, a smile still lingering on her lips, ''Im glad you have the peace to think, im always to worried, i guess that's why i like camp, it keeps my mind at ease''.
Whisper moved over, sitting her self down, her long feet making no noise. The female could tell something was going on between Brass and Suzy, but for now she cant say in till she is sure of her dog's feelings.
Susannah giggled again, ''Yes, hat is my job, that's usually the only reason I come here. Though it is beautiful''. She sighed, maybe she should take a break here and there, maybe it would even lift her spirits if she took her sister to explore the land with her. Suzy was not sure if her sister would want to come, she is a scared dog. The cream female pawed at the herbs, wondering if anyone would be needing her back at home.
