OOC name: Quirky Tea character's name: Appalachian rank: Alpha age: 6 gender: male personality: easy-going, nonchalant, charming, country bumpkin, respectable, down-to-earth, cocky, confident, friendly, he has a sadistic side that he tries to hide why your canine is good for this role: Latch, though not an ambitious dog, does have others at heart and is a bit of an idealist. He's a good fighter, but is more of a lover, mostly to keep that other side of him at bay. This internal struggle may make for good plot opportunities later. He's easy-going and not much fazes him. He's not gonna run dogs down for crossing his path, but may take things to far if others take him there. He's wise enough to know not to stick his nose where it doesn't belong, but gung-ho enough to go and do it anyways. RP Example: Latch stretched as Kory sang a two-note call. They woke up together. The black dog lay on his side, leaf litter all over his coat. A brown eye parted. He looked up at the bird above him. The Blue Jay cocked her head at him. "You're supposed to be awake. Worried even," she chastised, though there was a smile in her voice. She loved Latch.
The dog sighed and then shut his eye again. "Give me, what? 'bout five minutes?" He knew that he was supposed to be getting up, doing the whole pack meeting thing and convince everyone that everything was fine, that they were a pack despite the fact that, yes, he recently killed another dog. And no, he didn't really mean for it to get that far. One thing that he didn't want to do was for them to suddenly be afraid of him. He wanted accolades, adoration, love to be the reason that they followed him. He didn't want to control everyone by fear.
Kory, the Blue Jay, fluffed up her feathers. In a matter-of-fact voice, she replied, "They just found the body. It doesn't mean that they know it was you. Not really." She flapped her wings and took the the air, flying free for a circle or two above Latch before lighting on his shoulder.
"Fine, I'm up!" he said in a twangy drawl. He hopped to his feet, smiled at the little soul he called his own. His sudden movements forced her to fly up again. This time, she had her crest fully brushed out, her feathers sleek.
"Dammit, Latch!"
"Oh, Kory, you look right cute when you're feeling mad." He grinned. "Well, I'm heading out now. Might as well get the whole rigmarole over with, eh?"
She hovered a few wingbeats before landing on top of his head. She pecked at his ear, affectionately. They had six years growing up together and Kory was more than a simple piece of his soul, she was his friend and with that love for himself in that way, he exuded confidence.
He strutted, his tail forming a black scythe that curled over his pack. His gait bouncing in the cocksure way a dog that knew the world did. His paw was feeling fine, so he moved without a limp, despite the jolt of pain every time he hit the right forepaw against the ground. Show no weakness, he reminded himself. Let everyone know that you are in control. Kory felt the weight of his thoughts and her crest flattened, as if Latch's burden was shared on her as well.
He arrived at the abandoned farmstead, the old house being a fit home base for his pack. The black mutt stopped at the door way and turned around to announce the start of the meeting. He knew that, after his pack had found the pieces of that dog on their territory, that a meeting was due to ensure that the world wasn't going to hell. And Latch needed the meeting to keep hidden the fact that underneath his easy-going exterior, that he inherited the insanity of his ancestors, a pulse that lurked deep in his psyche, triggered when others gave him a hard time. This was something that needed tackled head on to keep everything together. Latch lifted his muzzle skyward and sang the song. Kory chirped along.
If everything went well, the respect his pack members had for him would not be tainted with fear.

OOC name: NeverLand character's name: Ashlynn rank: Alpha age: 6 gender: female
personality: Ashlynn is trickster. She can be quite a smart-ass when given the opportunity, and she doesn't take kindly to being walked over, or even someone attempting to walk over her. She is very flirtatious, often goofing off with other males just for the heck of it, with no intention of actually doing anything. She's got a nasty dark side when she gets pissed off. She is very thoughtful, and thinks every thing through very carefully before she does anything. She is also very protective of those she cares about, or has responsibility for.
why your canine is good for this role: She is good with authority. She makes others love her with out working too much at it. She isn't always honest in her efforts, but hey, the end result is the same. She likes to be in control, but not so much that she causes a fuss every time someone doesn't agree with her. She will listen to their opinion and take it to heart when making her final decision, but in the end, it's just that. Her final decision. She is a caring dog, but she tries to hide it sometimes.
RP Example: Ashlynn yawned as she stretched her front legs out. She was exhausted, and certainly not ready to be up and about this early. Heck, the sun wasn't even out yet. But she stood up and shook off the loose dirt that coated her bleach white pelt. Then she lifted her blue eyes to the falcon resting on a low branch of a nearby tree. Her soul was half asleep as well, and she barked at it. "Talon! Come on, it's time to get going."
She wasn't any happier about it than he was, but she had a job to do, and he was going to help her. She started walking along the edge of the forest. Some of the pack members had picked up the smell of some lone dogs hunting within our territory, and today Ashlynn was off to track them down. This territory was large, but there was only so much game here, and by right it was ours. She wouldn't start a fight with the canines, not unless provoked of course, but she would find out about them. How many were there? Did they need a pack? If they were going to live and hunt on Hlengiwe's territory they might as well join the pack. They would start low of course on the totem pole, but around here that didn't last very long.
"I can see a group of dogs. Five to be exact, about a mile ahead of you. You'll be able to smell them soon." The voice called down from above. Talon had been flying ahead, scouting the area. Not far of course, a falcon didn't need to go very far to see well ahead of them. Falcons have very good eyesight. She nodded, and picked up the pace. Moving forward at a graceful run, but not full speed. No need to tire herself out in case they DID happen to be unfriendly.
As she grew closer she sniffed the air. Yep, she could smell them alright. She slowed as she came into their circle. Hopefully this would go over well, and either the pack would grow, or she would leave them alone. This pack didn't mess too much with loners. That was their decision, but she couldn't allow them to cause problems with her own pack. She couldn't allow her charges to starve, and them hunting without permission would do just that.
As she came into their view she smiled politely and flicked her tail. She turned on her charm. They were all males, and while they could try something if they wished, she knew they wouldn't dare. She was an alpha, which meant she had a mate. Latch wouldn't let anything happen to her, so she lowered her head briefly in greeting. "Hey Boys, I've got a bone to pick with you.
Let the games begin.

OOC name: Ash character's name: Nebraska "Brass" rank: Beta age: 6 years old gender: Male personality: Nebraska is a serious male, he throws himself into everything that he does and tries to leave little to no margin for error in his work. Nebraska is also really opinionated. Although Nebraska is confident in his choices, he isn't as confident when it comes to controlling himself. Despite his lack of confidence in himself he is clever, crafty, and picks things up quickly. why your canine is good for this role: Nebraska would make a good beta because he learns rapidly and is quite opinionated, considering results. In the case of an attack, or having to fight he has many skills in his paws to defend his pack. He can act quickly when he needs to, but when he doesn't he tends to think things through thoroughly. He enjoys spending time with his pack, especially with pups who don't irritate him. RP Example: Brass awoke with a start as the small magpie bit him sharply on the ear, causing the male to leap to his feet with a fierce, bone chilling snarl. In his fright, instead of resorting to the typical irritation, he had immediatley resorted to his horrific nature. "Stop it, cranky, before you end up doing something stupid." Richie tweeted in his ear, startling Nebraska back from the edge of his bloodlust. The older male give a shake of his pelt, as if trying to shake away all of the sutpidity that had been in his previous actions. He had already let himself slip up today. That was not a good sign, espeically this early in the day. There would be no more mistakes today, Brass would make absolute sure of that.
"I'm sorry, Richie, I didn't mean to do that. You just really surprised me." Nebraska said with a sigh, giving a shake of his head, ashamed of letting it out of his grasp. He was supposed to be responsible, now that he was beta. "You had better get out there now, Nebraska. You need to get the border patrols in order, before your brother wakes up. You don't want to be irresponsible this early on, now do you." Richie said, perching on the dogs head as he emerged from his den.
The dogs were waiting, not all that patiently for him in the middle of camp, Brass grumbled out a sigh at the sight of this. Why had he doomed himself by waking up this late? "You two can take the eastern border, there hasn't been much trouble there, you three, the north, and you other two the west, you last three, the southern border. Try to hunt a little if you see prey, but not so much. Hunting patrols come out soon." Nebraska nodded to each group as he spoke, finishing his orders, he padded off, he would take a patrol later, hopefully.
"You're doing well, for your first few weeks, anyway." Richie chirped from his new perch on Nebraska's back. Brass gave a grumbled sigh to his friend, and soul, "You mean I just haven't killed anyone yet." Brass grumbled, dropping his head slightly. "Stop looking at the worst things possible, everyone will start listening in a while, and you'll get used to all of these dogs." Nebraska nodded, not wanting to argue with the bird. It was useless, they had a shared knowledge and understanding, afterall. "Hopefully." He grumbled, not letting the bird hear him. He would get better, things would run smoother, he was sure. And if it didn't happen soon, he would double his efforts. He would win these dogs over, he was sure.

OOC name: solstice. character's name: Columbine. rank: Betess. age: 3. gender: Female. personality: Columbine is a cocky female, in the form of her looks. She's confident and has a great focus that isn't easily broken. She's intelligent, and in certain situations, will think ahead to every possible outcome to choose the best one. She at times craves attention, but that's because she never got it as a pup. She's generally calm, and distant. But she has a short temper that she can't always control. why your canine is good for this role: Columbine is good for this role because she has a focus that won't break. She's intelligent and always thinks ahead. Though she has a short temper and despises disrespect, she is patient and willing to listen. She's a bit distant, but this means she won't let her heart get in the way of her decisions. Columbine was bred to be confident and know what to do in tough situations. She was born to be a leader. RP Example:
Fey had already did her best to wake the canines. She pulled her whiskers, head butted her, and even screamed in her ear! Columbine just wasn't moving. She might as well have been dead. The ferret snorted her disapproval and glared at the sleeping hound. Then an idea struck her. Scurrying over to Columbines fluffy black tail, she took it between her tiny teeth in bit down. Hard. Columbines golden hues shot open instantly. And instantly she knew who to blame for the sudden pain that shot from her tail. "FEY!" She snarled loudly, fangs already bared as she lunged towards the ferret, snapping them in her face. Fey moved out of the canines way, knowing she wouldn't be afraid to place a nip on her, even if it meant hurting herself. When out of her range, Fey glared up at Columbine. "Well you weren't getting up."
Columbine looked to the entrance of her den, to find the sun hadn't even risen yet. She grumbled in frustration, rolling her hues back to Fey. "Its not even sun yet." She collapsed back to the ground. Fey scurried over to Columbines nose, sitting back on her back legs to look at her. "The night patrol will be coming in soon. You promised to lead the dawn patrol." Columbine growled, knowing Fey was right. But that didn't stop Columbine from closing her eyes again. "Don't make me..." Fey trailed off as she parted her jaw towards Columbines nose. Columbine rose to her paws immediately. "I'm up, I'm up!"
Columbine left the den, looking around the camp. Most of the dogs were still nestled in they're beds. It's exactly where Columbine wished to be. She curled her lips, just like she always liked to do. She was hoping she didn't have to wait to long for the other wolves to be back. But she was sure Fey wouldn't have waken her too early. The ferret knew her better than anyone. Soon the canines from last nights patrol returned. Good, Columbine didn't have to wait long. They dipped they're heads to Columbine. "The borders are clear." Columbine nodded to them. "Get some rest, you deserve it." She smiled softly .. or at least, tried too.
She looked around, watching to see if she could pick off another dog to join her. Since the patrol didn't see anything, she didn't need a lot of dogs to come with her. She could go alone. But she wanted another canine around encase they were attacked, the other could run back for help. Then she saw him. He slipped out of his den for God knows what. "You!" She called to him. "You're coming with me." The other only hesitated for a second before nodding and following.
Columbine stepped into the woods with the canine, and Fey not to far behind. She had smaller legs then the dogs, but she managed to keep up.
