Hlengiwe Laws
1. Live and work hard and don't make the lives of others harder
2. Be polite, courteous, and give the pack heads up for any big events such as births, deaths, illnesses, finding mates, and such
3. Don't kill other dogs
4. There is no judgment toward another dog's life choices unless he has made the lives of others harder or has killed another dog.
5. Don't get hung up on ranks, respect, and the way things are supposed to be. This pack is informal, things happen, and it's fun.
6. Stay loyal to the pack or things won't stay as fun and informal.

Celebrations & Traditions
[style=background-color: gray; padding: 1px 4px; text-align: center;]Pack Holidays
• The Dog Days Feast: A summer celebration in which dogs chase large game from off territory and then kill them in the pasture for the dog-day feast.
• Winter Thanksgiving: Dogs exchange gifts with others they are fond of, romantically or family wise, and then, the dogs look up to the sky and sing.
Pack Etiquette
• Respectful Greeting: This pack has always been an incredibly informal one. However, in moments where respect is given or deserved, dogs bow their heads in greeting.
• Pack Meetings: There is nothing wrong with just sitting around the leader, coming up to him like an old friend. The pack should feel like a big family.
• Mates: Most dogs are monogamous in this pack. Everything is accepted, but it's up to the mates to decide how faithful they are to each other.[/style]

Rank Information
[style=background-color: gray; padding: 1px 4px; text-align: center;]Alpha
The Alpha is a dog that leads the pack. His word is law. His mate is given the Alpha rank as well and their relationship is both a business agreement to lead the pack and a romantic one. Requires audition.
Beta
The Beta is a dog that helps with decision making and running the pack should the Alpha be unable to do so. He or she is usually best friends with the Alpha or his mate. The Beta's mate does not inherit his or her rank. Requires audition.
Elite Hunters
Hunting is an important part of Hlengiwe. The best hunters are given the Elite Hunters rank and lead the pack hunts--even the Alpha and Betas follow their orders in the situation of a hunt if the Elite Hunter has more skill than they.
Healers
Healers are given the same respect as Elite Hunters in the case of plant identification and such. This is normally the highest rank for disabled dogs to gain. Healers can take pups as apprentices. Apprentices are noted by an asterisk in the pack roster.
Scouts
Scouts are the dogs that wander throughout the land, collecting intelligence, as well as the ones who send or give messages from other packs. They are normally speedy, agile dogs who can make a quick getaway should other dogs not be as friendly as the dogs of Hlengiwe.
Elders
Elders are dogs that have passed the prime of their life. Rather than demote them to the Omega rank due to their uselessness, they are honored for living their lives for the pack. These dogs tend to be aged. Sick dogs that should be in their prime are afforded Elder status if their pack loyalty is strong.
Subordinates
The average member of the pack. A default rank. Most of these function as hunters, are average, though many have their own talents as well. They live their lives.
Puppies
This is any dog that is less than one year of age.
Omegas
Omegas tend to be prisoners or rule-breakers and are allowed to be abused or heckled for their crimes. Some are dogs that simply did not fit in the ideal of the pack. Some are simply dogs that were in the wrong place at the wrong time and learned too much of things they weren't supposed to know...
