Hey guys! I'm QT and I have a dog at home. He isn't with me now, but he's a dalmatian mix (mixed with chow, lol). He is aloof, not that cuddly, not very playful, nervous, very precise, and all around a serious boy. He also has a bunch of fear aggression issues, which we have made huge progress in despite the fact that I'm hardly ever home. My biggest hobby is dog training. I love trick training and my doggy knows a bunch.
Here are some tricks he knows: Sit, down, stay, come, down, touch (chin, top-of-head, nose), shake hands, hi-five, targeting (paw, chin, nose), back up, beg, perchwork*, paws in basket (front, hind, or all), crate games*, tunnel, jump over and through anything, crawl, spin (both directions), leg-weaves, figure-8s, heel (both sides), go between legs, nod his head, handstand, speak, go-to-mat, default attention, default leave it, find-it, tug of war rules, fetch & more that I forgot.
perchwork = put front or hind paws on a perch (upside doggy-dish or laundry basket for Oats) and dog pivots around it. Also putting all four feet on the perch
crate games = series of go-to crate behaviors such as sprinting to the crate full speed, staying in unless released, and once released, running back into the crate--used to build drive for other stuff, like putting a jump between dog and crate then having dog run into crate.
Also we work a lot with calmness and counter-conditioning to scary stimuli. I use only positive methods, no pain, intimidation, force, or even telling Oats "No" or that he's a bad dog. I use treats, play, and love.

I have a little guy named Niles. He was born on sep 13 of 2006. He was very nervous when i first met him, though his brother was a happy hyper guy when i met them at the breeders. Im not sure why but Niles is afraid of many things, like the window when the wind makes it 'crack', the vacuum (some what), soccer ball, and almost anything bigger than him. He also barks and tries to get my dad, that is another thing im trying to stop, Im no expert so im not sure why he does all of this. He also has no idea how to play with toys and other dogs, well he tries, but it dosnt work. But he is the most cuddliest dog i have met. He is always following me around and napping with me =) (Niles)Making my bedRandom, GO GET IT

Most dog aggression and stuff stems from fear, so I think it's humane to deal with it from a behaviorist standpoint and teach at the dog's pace so that his emotional response is changed, not just his reaction. I know with Oats, once we stopped treating his dog-aggression like it was some dominance thing and more like a phobia, we started making real progress. He's plateaued right now, but that's because he's trained enough to be at the stage where it's time for set-ups with meeting with trained, well-socialized dogs. Sadly, they are rather rare in this area, lol. Otis also has no clue how to play with other dogs, but I think it's because his mother died when he was very young and his siblings were bottle fed, then they were separated kind of early too. So, he didn't get any benefit from his littermates. But it's okay, because I pretend he's the dog version of that nerdy kid in physics class who is way too into class and completely clueless about how to handle others. Otis has some play drive, but it's all artificial, lol. If you want, I can give pointers on how to teach a dog to play :3 I use the same underlying principles in training my dog as I do my rat: Zelda Rat

Yo! Laskie has two wonderfully brilliant doggehs! They are both German shepherd dogs, both AKC registered. ^.^
I was thinking about breeding my female...my male is already fixed. His name is Major, and my white girl's name is Whitney. :3 Major just turned 2 although he weighs up to 115 lbs; which is not normal for a Shepherd, usually weighing around 60-80 lbs. Whitney, my white girl will, probably only get up to 80. She is a smaller, submissive girl who is very shy. Both are doing well in Agility, and Major does SAR for the Carolinas. (where I live). Major is an advanced obedience training, while she is juts learning the basics,

I do not own a dog, though I used to have one named Tammy. She was a very high energy, playful, adventurous, black labrador x whippet mix and was great on the socialization front with both dogs, cats, smaller animals and people. This was probably because she was in the RSPCA for quite a while until we adopted her. Sometimes she was a little difficult to reign back in and train, but she was perfect the way she was. When my family moved countries, we didn’t know if our new apartment would allow pets, and we didn’t want her to have to go through six months in quarantine alone, so she ended up staying in England with my aunt’s family. They had an older dog, so she had company and plenty of running space. She is around seven or eight, now that I think about it. We got her five or six years ago.
Now, I have a very vocal, stubborn but loving ginger cat named Chester. A woman found him as a kitten, abandoned on the street. His mom was probably feral and he was most likely the runt of the litter. As a result he was quite skittish and nervous, and definitely did not like new people or crowds. Even so, my dad decided that he liked Chester, while my mom wasn’t so sure. My sister and I got him on the last day of school before Christmas. It took time to get him to come out of his shell, but just a week or two after we got him, he opened up and became the most tolerant, calm, loving cat I’ve ever met. He’s very trusting of us, while he still hates loud noise, new people and crowds. He plays the most silly games with me and just loves to bring back ‘presents’ from hunting trips outside. We’re not sure how old he is exactly, but I’d say that he’s about two years old.

Cool, Alaska! I am thinking of getting my next dog at a breeder or as an older rescue so I can have a dog with a stable enough temperament (and stable enough health) to trial with. I love Oats to pieces but he's got a genetically nervous temperament and is chronically anxious. I had to teach him just how to calm down and relax! He also suffers from health problems. When his Lupus flares up, he has no desire to do much of anything, but finds nose-touches still rewarding. He enjoys trick training as it increases his confidence a lot!
And Jisa - Tammy sounds like the exact sort of dog I want for my next one! High energy, driven, playful, and with a good, social temperament. I've also entertained the idea of having a pet cat, but I think a parrot would be more rewarding to me. I really like the character of the smaller to medium sized parrots!

Yeup. :3 Whitney's only 13 weeks old, so we have a ways to go before we would even think about breeding her. x3

got my first real dog in february, the weekend after i found my half sister. i had looked everywhere for a husky, seeing as they were my favorite breed. I then looked at the humane society website, and found this gorgeous shepherd/husky mix. so, that's where we went. but they're adoption room's weren't open yet, and the family didn't feel like sitting around and waiting. so we looked around. well, there was a little of german shepherd puppies for sale, so that's where we went. well, i fell in love and that's how we got this guy; Maxwell. now, german shepherds are my favorite breed! x] he was born december 4th, 2009, and is now 2 years old. clicky here!he's been one of the biggest pains in my asses, but i honestly wouldn't change him for the world. he doesn't know many tricks, other than sit, like down, shake and high five. didn't really care to teach him much, lol. my next dog will be a red or blue merle aussie.<3 Older photos of maxwell!newer photos!I also have a hand raised kitten(max helped me with him), another rescued kitten, a 16 year old cat and fish. i actually don't like cats. -.-

Beautiful dogs everyone! I'm thinking of rescuing my next dog, but if I get her from a breeder, I think I'll get a Standard or Miniature Poodle or an Aussie (I don't care what color Aussie, but I want a white poodle so I can dye her hair, lol)

If I get a white poodle, this is the clip I'm giving her: If a different color, I'll probably do a miami clip. Just something to show off the dog's physique. :3

I know, but I'm looking for the dog with the right temperament to suit me, not just the right appearance ;3 I am thinking a mutt at the shelter is what I'm probably going to end up with, lol. I actually am not fond of merle, but no good dog is a bad color. If I get an Aussie, I'm hoping for a black or red tri (or bi... or self), but I wouldn't turn down a merle dog.
